Do you live near a body of water? Be it a lake, some standing water, a puddle… We’d like to give it the possibility to reach the sea. This could be in the form of a map, a set of instructions, pictures, anything you like. It can be as simple as a scribble on the back of an envelope, or a complex video walk-through... a masterful painting or a last minute sculpture…

Lonely Puddles Is an online archive of water-bodies and journeys to the sea. The archive was launched and first exhibited at Youkobo Art Space, Tokyo, 2021. We hope to see it travel to new spaces soon.
To add to the archive, send us an email at
with the following information:
1. Your response to the archive: files no larger than 2MB, film as YouTube/Vimeo links.
2. Send us a photo of your water-body along with its location so that we can find it on the map and in the archive.
3. tell us anything else you'd like to keep visible or invisible on your archive page.
